Do you struggle with poor job choices, bad employment options, and frustrated career ambitions? Women often perfect their skills in larger corporations, but leave when their career ambitions are not fulfilled. A major setback for women in terms of careers is having children and part time or flexible working can mean career ambitions are curtailed.

It’s almost unbelievable that 30 years after the Sex Discrimination Act came into force, that half the population (no minority group here then) are being short changed and under represented in the most powerful positions

What Can You Do About It?

Keep yourself motivated and learning with a fresh professional challenge. Keep on the course that you have already set for yourself.

If you do poorly in an interview and do not receive an offer, it could be because of one or more of these common interview faults:

* Insufficient ability to describe your career direction;

* Failure to project your qualifications for the position;

* Apparent absence of personal initiative;

* Need for greater self-confidence;

* Inappropriate personal appearance or dress;

* Lack of knowledge of the company or firm;

* Inability to express yourself clearly;

* Failure to ask relevant questions

It is your responsibility to ensure the interviewer gets the information needed to make an employment decision in your favour. At the end of the interview you have the opportunity to ask questions covering new information and clarifying previous points such as: “How long is the training program?” or “Is this a new position?”

Finding Opportunities

Look at the internet every other day and join as many “jobs by email” lists as possible. Go for any job remotely connected to what you want to do, even if they ask for something you haven’t got; you can find out about skills in demand and if you get an interview then you can demonstrate your abilities to learn. The goal of the interview is to get to know you so that you can be evaluated for a job you will be able to thrive in and where you can do your best.

After all, for a successful company to continue to succeed, you must share a sense of purpose and motivation. This is because an employee’s ability to make a good first impression is a definite asset to the individual and the firm/company he or she represents.

5. Step further
Think positively and create a fun atmosphere when you are in the office with co-workers. Do not bring personal problems at work. Unfortunately, only a few days or weeks we could lose this job. Why, how come? Of course you can and it’s because of your error. Without realizing it, you destroying their own careers. Here are the things that can kill a career in an instant.

1. INABILITY

The inability to long tails. Research shows, companies always say, better to have employees who want to learn to consistently increase the skill than just stop at one’s ability. You see, this type of employee will not grow and tend not to cooperate.

2. HARD WORKING TEAM

No one who feels like living next to a prima donna. Companies would have difficulty with employees who refused or was unable to work in teams. So, make sure you can become a member of a good working team and can act as a social being good also.

3. NOT ON TIME

If the work must be completed on Wednesday, for instance, bear in mind that on Thursday there will never be. An organization needs someone who can be responsible, trustworthy. No deadline was not only reflects a person who is not professional, but it also means that damage and even destroy others schedule job. In the end, your boss is going to be highlighted. If it has particularly a commitment, keep promises, no matter what happens. This is very important!

4. USING FACILITIES COMPANY

Corporate facilities such as e-mail and phone number of a business for the company. Use the phone for personal use as short as possible and do not receive pangggilan personal phone with long talk time. Also, do not ever write an e-mail that do not want to be read by bosses because many systems that can store the shipment-delivery e-mails deleted in one file. Remember the people who are looking for spirited dwarf face the boss. Moreover, using e-mail to the company’s personal needs, so are not allowed.

5. EXCLUSIVE

Do not isolate yourself or to act exclusively. Develop yourself and your relationships with colleagues. People who have an effective network, will have a point and a source of accurate information so that they can more easily reach and understand the intricacies of the company organization. Research shows, employees who have extensive networks, generally tend to be someone who can work in teams, many contributed to the success of work teams, have more value, so they can get promoted faster and higher compensation.

6. AFFAIR

Although you and the he was in the room or a separate division, an affair in the office is not a good choice. If the accident involved romance with the boss, so there is a promotion, it will form the rumors. At a minimum, co-workers snickered because assuming you got the position because of the close to the boss. One more harmful when an affair with the boss or co-workers who dropped out, could make the relationship work so disturbed. Not to mention the need to face the gossip from colleagues.

7. FEAR TAKE RISKS

If you do not believe in yourself, then others will not trust you. Be able to do something and take risks. Tell me honestly, “I’ve never done it but I will try to learn how.” Do not be afraid of failure or fear of making mistakes. If the situation becomes chaotic, immediate change and get help colleagues or superiors are better at it. Anyway, try to learn at every opportunity in every situation. Remember, work overtime because of the risk can make you become more challenged and more rapid progress.

8. NO GOAL Failure is not something bad in order to achieve a goal. Bad is if you do not have a goal to achieve something. So, making plans daily activities to achieve this goal. Believe it or not, 80 percent of a person achieved success, 20 percent came from the activities done in accordance with the objectives to be achieved. Which Set priorities and focus on the job.

9. Sloppy IMPRESSED

Honest or not, appearance is always taken into account. People are always judging the appearance and your behavior. In other words, try not to dress casually when going to the office or dress inappropriately charged to the office. Be honest, speak the language well, polite, do not use language or regional dialect. Act as a competent, committed and good behavior.

10. NOT KEEPING UP

Small room, hall, stairs to walk, even the office bathroom, it’s not your personal property. Be careful if you’re talking in public places earlier and look at who you talk to. Do not joke about faith, family, company secrets, gossip work together, and individuals are also the bosses. All this talk about it is not something that is free, not free, especially the very valuable and very meaningful to your work!

All that is needed is not in the list, one network, or a source of information. Especially for job search and career advancement effectively.

About twenty years ago, only a few people who know about fax machines, FedEx, cellular telephones, desktop computers, e-mail, or even the Internet. But now, all present everywhere in the world. Revolution in human nature took place, develop and grow in every moment, those who are in fact using the Internet.

We saw all around us, how the Internet becoming commonplace for the community. Access was not familiar with the geographic location, as long as there are telephone, anyone can connect to the Internet, both home phone and mobile phone.

Many people assume, almost all of the information found on the Internet. This assumption does no harm, because information on the Internet is always growing time after time, as revealed by the U.S. Commerce Department, where information grows twice as much as 100 days.

So that a variety of information available there, ranging from simply make the necessary and as a whole in accordance with the user desires. Are also likely to make the location of various sources of information are at scattered locations.

In addition, competition in the labor fight is reliable must be admitted also color the current business competition. Each company vying to recruit skilled workers and highly skilled, even for a high level, sometimes the plow-plow power from any other company of choice.

One of the potentially enough media to do a search strategy in getting the job, this is certainly the Internet. With a wealth of information, and its unique, make people better than the job seekers and workers take advantage of the search.

During an interview you want to give the best first impression that you can. There are many small things that you can do to assure that you give the best impression possible. They are as follows:

You can never be too polite to the person that directs to your waiting area when waiting to be interviewed. A small gesture like, asking how they are doing can work wonders for you when you leave the building later.

While waiting to be interviewed, sit properly and behave as if everyone passing you by is your potential interviewer. (They just might be) Smile at people as much as possible. Do not act impatient or bored, it sends the wrong message. Some interviewers will keep you waiting just to see how you handle yourself.

Greet you interviewer with a firm handshake and a smile.

Remain standing until your interviewer asks you to be seated. It is simply polite and shows proper etiquette.

Again, dress according to the type of job that you are applying for.

Show yourself to be well organized, by having all things needed for the interview.

While waiting do not eat or drink anything.

Don’t chat on your cell phone while waiting for your interviewer. It makes you look distracted.

Stories of people looking for real solutions to making their dreams come true

Everybody has a dream whether it’s traveling the world, spending more time with family and friends, helping loved ones recover their health, or supporting organizations whose work you value. We all have them. The question of why some people realize theirs is what we’re looking at in these interviews. When you read the accounts of other people looking for freedom from the endless workplace and mountains of debt that keep you just getting by, ask yourself how you would answer the questions. You may discover that you’re in the market for a real solution and ready to move toward your goals.

Susan is the mother of three elementary students. She works as a chef at a catering company and at the kids’ school. She is working 7 days a week trying to keep up with the bills and provide for her family. her ex-husband has the girls on the weekends which allow her to work this hectic schedule. She is exhausted with this lifestyle and is looking for a better solution that would provide income while working from home.

What do you like about your work? I care about nutrition and enjoy cooking. I used to like the work more but now it exhausts me.

What would you change if you could? Ideally, if I could work only one job that would be great. If I could find a way to make money online, or with a home-based business, I would try it.

Why is that important to you? There are only some many hours in a day and with three kids, each one takes time. They also take money. It’s a real balancing act. I want to be home for the girls and be able to provide for them.

How does it make you feel not knowing how you will make more money? It’s scary. We’re living paycheck to paycheck. The girls only get to go on vacations with their dad because he has more money. I want to be able to take them traveling, too.

What would you do if there were nothing stopping you? I’d find a real way to make a lot more money working from home and work it hard to create enough income for me and the girls.

If you’re like Susan and you’re looking for a way to change your present situation so you too can get what you want, you might consider a residual income business. Residual income businesses continue to provide an income even when you are not. These opportunities come in a variety of forms- multi-level marketing, network marketing, house parties, affiliate marketing, etc. Whether you’re looking to make money online or off (or both), you could find an opportunity to work in the exploding wellness industry with a residual income business.

Where do I start?

First and foremost you start with the job advertisement. When looking for jobs, try covering up the job titles and focus solely on what skills, experience and qualities the employer is actually looking for. By doing this, you will be pleasantly surprised at how many jobs you may have overlooked because the title somehow made you think you could not do it.

Resume Writing Guide Tip # 1

Start going through the criteria, highlighting where you experience matches what they are looking for. With essential criteria, if you match at least 90% you should apply for that vacancy. With the desirable criteria, if you match 60% – apply! Alongside the job description you should also have company research you have gleaned from their website or talking to people who already work in the organisation to which you are applying. This too needs to be considered when following the tips below.

Resume Writing Guide Tip # 2

Start at the main body of your resume, the Career Summary and you can fill everything else once this is done. It is easier to compile a winning profile once you realise how well matched for the job you are.

Resume Writing Guide Tip # 3

Starting with the criteria you match and have highlighted, write a bullet point for each one and this must be evidence based. For example, each bullet point should start with a word that ends ‘ed’, i.e. coached, implemented, designed, delivered etc. These are action words. I have seen many resumes that have lots of ‘responsible for’, but what does this tell the reader? You may have been responsible for something in the workplace but did you actually do it?

Resume Writing Guide Tip # 4

Consider some achievements. This is your Unique Selling Point (USP). If there are 3 of you going for the same job and you all have similar experience and skills, what is going to make you stand out from the other two people? Achievements to be considered should be based on what YOU have done and not necessarily what your team did. Examples of these could be:

Ideas you came up with that were implemented and in doing so saved the company money in terms of efficiencies or less staff required to do a specific task

Charity events you have taken part in and raised money for worthwhile causes

Any training courses you attended where you finished in the top 3 and out of how many

Any awards or accolades you were given as a result of your work efforts

Any promotions received ahead of peer group

Resume Writing Guide Tip # 5

Now to the Profile which should be the first paragraph in your resume. This should be no longer than 5 or 6 lines and is basically your 30 second commercial. It needs to be written in such a way that the reader is captured and is interested enough to want to read the rest of your resume. It should contain information around ASQ – Aims, Skills, Qualifications although not necessarily in that order.

Resume Writing Guide Tip # 6

Follow this paragraph up with a set of Key Skills. These key skills should tell the employer more about you as a person. For example:

Flexible approach to working hours

Willing to commute/relocate

Pro-active individual who is results focussed whilst remaining mindful of exceeding customer expectations

IT literate: competent in using all MS packages

Excellent sickness record, no absences in last 10 years

Hands on leadership style with added ability to motivate teams through strong work ethic and consultative approach to all tasks

Willing to accept responsibility for mistakes and learn from them

Resume Writing Guide Tip # 7

Your career summary should follow the Key Skills section and should include a Job Title, Company Name and the dates you worked there. If you are applying for a position that is similar to all your previous jobs, then you should do a reverse chronological resume. This shows your natural progression and experience gained within one industry and that is what you are promoting.

If, on the other hand you have had many varied jobs, you should consider a Functional CV. This is where you are selling your experience under several job title headings, again all bullet pointed and starting with the ‘ed’ words.

Resume Writing Guide Tip # 8

Next section you should focus on is Qualifications. Do not put a whole list of qualifications down there that are irrelevant. Keep them specific but in doing so, refer to your company research and the job description and perhaps you could add some additional ones that although not outlined in the job advert, you know they would be sought after in this company.

Resume Writing Guide Tip # 9

Your final section should be Personal Interests. Keep this very short and be aware of how the reader may perceive your hobbies. For example, if you’re a keen sky-diver or involved in other dangerous sports, could they consider you to be a high risk of injury that results in taking lengthy time off work?

Resume Writing Guide Tip # 10

Never send a duplicate resume or CV to more than one employer. Every resume you do should be targeted to ONE and only ONE specific position. Each employer must feel when reading it that you are the right person for the role and you really want to work for them and only them.

There are a growing number of people in our society who choose to work for themselves and are therefore regarded as self-employed. Such individuals may be required to apply for specialist self-employed mortgages when buying a home rather than traditional mortgages. This is because high street lenders typically regard such workers as high risk when it comes to lending money.

Working on a self-employed basis can have its advantages and an estimated one-quarter of the UK’s workforce choose to work for under this arrangement. Unfortunately for workers who choose this lifestyle, securing a mortgage without any hassle is not one of the advantages. People who work as employees generally find it easier than the self-employed to secure standard high street mortgages. This is because they normally possess documents that will prove their income so lenders perceive them as having income security.

However, this is not the case for the self-employed and because of this specialist home loans for this type of worker have become readily available in recent years. Lenders may sometimes consider applications for standard high-street mortgages from self-employed applicants if they can provide three years worth of accounts that show a healthy profit. This is not possible for many self-employed workers because they may have been in business for less than three years and the income shown on their accounts may have been mitigated for taxation purposes.

In recent years, many lenders have recognised this dilemma and have subsequently brought specialist self-employed mortgages to the market to cater for it.

These products are also known as self-certification mortgages and offer relief to this type of worker as they do not require full proof of income or employment status. Instead of providing proof of income with accounts, pay slips, or any other documents, the home loan applicant will simply declare their income on the application form.

Despite the fact that no proof is required, people applying for self-employed mortgages should beware that it is still considered fraud if they exaggerate their income in order to borrow more money. Just because lenders do not require a full disclosure of documents it does not mean that an applicant can write whatever they like for their level of income.

Applicants should only borrow what the can afford to repay regardless of the amount of proof required by the lenders of self-employed mortgages. By borrowing more than they can afford to repay an applicant may be setting themselves up for financial disaster later in life, particularly if interest rates rise substantially.

The various self-employed home loan products which are available from many different lenders have different terms and conditions so it is a good idea to speak to an independent mortgage adviser in order to find out which products are the most suitable to your circumstances before applying. An independent broker will be able to advise on the entire market and will not be tied to any particular lender or products. This will help to ensure that you receive the best possible advice and will be able to choose from the widest range of products.
